I was quite silent ultimately but it was silent in work. I have spent quite time with new projects and one of them is my new singlecut design, well rather first singlecut design. Many of you could ask why it took so loong to incorporate singlecut design to my line of basses if mostly everybody these days do singlecuts, right? Well, probably this is the reason. I hate trends, I hatem fasions of one spring, and rather would preffer to not follow any herd
I do follow my own track and if I do something which can match current “in” styles ther must be some reason and I need to feel confortable with that. OK, so here is first 5 string singlecut ( 6 string next to come).
Before I show you some pics I need to ask you one, but very very BIG favour.
Please, please, feel free to criticise it !!! I mean, say truth about what you like and what you dislike. I know you can not feel it right now but tel me your real feelings about design, details and whole concept.
You will see: I do not expect just nice worlds, and if you think this is absolute blob, just say it as you feel, I truly appreciate your feedback.
OK, so here are some quick specs:
33″ scale
cedar body
maple setin neck
this is a standard pickup layout due to my sound idea but can be changed
3band preamp, 1 pickup switch and 1 mid greq switch
1) This is our new headstock design, if you see small or no difference to our previous headstock, that´s mean I did good job

2) Detail of pickups

3) New Jerzy Drozd Bass bridge detail

4) Another new bridge detail

5) Entire look of our new wooden bass bridge

6) Pickups and bridge on new Jerzy Drozd singlecut bass.
OK thats all folks ! Tomorrow the rest of pics!
Bye,
Jerzy

the headstock re-design is great, is diferent, but still tells me that this a drozd bass.

I really like the design, been a fan of your designs since i started playing bass.
However, and please take this as a grain of salt, I do believe that you can do much better about that lower horn, to me it does not fit the bass at all and most important, it doesnt look Jerzy Drozd enough to me.
Anyway Congrats on pulling out another creation!

Jerzy, you are an ARTIST.
The bridge is incredible. The pickup placement is perfect. Only one question. Does the bridge has the option of adjusting its entire high?

Hello Jerzy,
These first pics of the new bass design are very interesting, in particular (for me at least) is the bridge. I’m digging the design of it, but i”m wondering why you’ve opted for string ferrules and not a two piece bridge system that you’ve already established? Also is the setup for intonation the same as your previous bridges?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m really digging the aesthetic of the design, just curious about the functionality is all.

Hi Stephen,
Hey, thats fine I actually asked for sincere opinion so hey that´s fine. There is reason for ferrules: this is an 33″ scale bass, so in order to not have to use short scale strings which are not always available in any part of this planed I opted for this kind of solution, so you can use any 34,35″ scale strings. The one world I would like to describe this bass probably it would be useability.

Jerzy

beautiful looking bass Jerzy……
I really dig the wood, the pick up, headstock and the bridge. I also like the way the neck ties in on the back…nice…….I am also a little unsure about the lower horn…..but the main thing is the sound and playability….and how is the weight??
I’d like to hear a sound sample too!!
nice job as usual.
Best,
C

Hi Chris,
I enjoyed your music you gave me while in LA in 2008, thanks !
Thank you for opinion on new bass, this one weight 3,8kg ( 8,4 Ibs) but I plan two things: even lighter woods and hollowbody version so it should be easyly 3,5kg ( 7,7 Ibs) or less.
Regards,
Jerzy

@ Franklin D. Ayala
Hi Franklin,
No, you can not DIRECTLY adjust high for entire bridge however it´s possible to adjust this way putting special layers below. I preffer this solution since bridge has direct contact with the body. Anyway you can adjust high and spacing.

This is a remarkable bass. I am infatuated over the neck design and also the new bridge. I like the small details such as the name on the bridge. One thing bothers me though: the lower horn. It seems to extend too far from the neck/body. I would love to hear a sound sample of this beauty! I am glad to hear that it will be available as a hollowbody, too!

Great job, Jerzy.

The more I look at it the more I see the “phantom” part of the heel in its natural position and then the cut line you made across it and through. I think it is a very beautiful and functional design. I hope to see a 6 string version; many congratulations…
Be well…

In general I really like your take.

My Opinion: the lower cut and adjacent waste make the instrument appear “unbalanced”
I did a photo mod on how I imagine it could look.

Likes:
Pickup position — I'd probably opt for dual narrow humbuckers;
Bridge: beautiful and functional;
Head: nice.
Dislikes:
Scale: personally, the longer the scale the better (up to a point);
Gold Hardware: just never been a fan of the look;
Edges: I like rounded, gradual transitions, just more comfortable.

Other notes:
IMO, you shouldn't worry about it looking different than what you've done before.
The esthetic balance of a bass should be judged while someone is playing it, not when sitting on a stand (but of course, that's not how most will judge it).
