As promised, more pics of new bass, I have also opened new topic just for this bass in forum here so talk with other people there if you wish about this new design. I promisse you are free to say anything ! you love it, you hate it any, comment is very wellcome:
So here it is new “noname” singlecut bass from Jerzy Drozd factory
Still color of two switches is unmatched.
For this pickup layout there will be small thumbrest.
Other pickup positions are possible, singlecoil-singlecoil, doublesinglecoil-singlecoil etc….
Back view, this is not final shape for neck hell, this one make very upper positions not so confortable as it will be, Yves Carbonne said that´s not problem though

Closer look to the shape of the neck hell, again it will look nicer ( actually singlecut 6 string has new hell design), anyway the idea of the hell is to make it different than “known bass maker” do and many singlecut bass makers just copy the same shape.

“…the idea of the hell is to make it different than “known bass maker” do and many singlecut bass makers just copy the same shape.”
This is the reason that your work is exquisite.

Jerzy, I´m a great admirer of your work and hope to aquire a Excellency bass soon (as soon as I get the money
). Anyway, I think it´s one of the most original basses I´ve seen in a long time. I´m curious about the sound.
Usually I prefer the pickup position more spaced out and a bit more in the centre, like the one´s you have on Excellency bass.
Honestly I´m not crazy about this new trend in witch a lot of basses leave the top body part so far in to the neck, but it´s a “fashion” thing and my personal taste alone.
Loved the bridge design, beautiful work!!!
Hope it was a constructive criticism of your new bass and as I said before, look forward to purchasing an Excellency…
See you soon

Hola Jerzy
I must say I was very surprised by the appearance. It’s a radical change in direction from anything you’ve ever done. All the materials flow wonderfully together, from the adjustable wooden bridge to the matching woods. Overall it’s a beautifully made instrument. The only thing I would have asked you to do if it were “my bass” was to shorten the lower horn and have it taper to a point. Not a sharp point but more drastically than it stands now. I can see the advantages of it’s design for positioning the bass on the leg while sitting but I sit with the bass strapped on to keep the playing position that is suitable to my needs.
(Is this what you have planned for the Barcelona?)
It is a gorgeous instrument and I want to congratulate you.
You should post some audio files so we can all hear what it sounds like. Bravo.

Hey Edo,
Actually this is kind of sensation I expected to get anybody who know my work already, and response I get til now is in line wit this. Sincerely I did not expected nothing different and that´s normal. Whole design of this bass has some background and there is a lot to explain “why” of this bass and “why” of this design which I will try to explain in this blog soon.
Anyway You have catched a bit of my idea already. Yes I would like top post some audio clips if possible, hope I will do this in near future.
Thank´s for being here Edo.

Apreciado Jerzy,

You truly inspire me.
I wish that one day you build a bass for me Jerzy.
by the way.. as a suggestion, the curves on that bass really remind me of rio’s mountains and beaches.. maybe a cool name for it would be Rio, since you already have a Barcelona
a question.. I always wanted to know more about tonewoods (for the body, the fret, the neck, the top, etc). Is there something that I can read about it ? I know it is not an exact science, but just to have more information about the expected sounds from the woods and how to balance them to get different textures and so on.
with respect from Rio de Janeiro,
rodrigo

Hello Jerzy,
I’ve been really looking at the design of the new single cut bass and among the many aspects that appeal to me the main one based on only seeing this is the design and in particular the design flow. Overall it is quite pleasing, the only exception being the lower horn. To me it is a big departure from the design and really doesn’t work with the design. Please forgive me if this is out of line but re-working the lower horn to work design wise with the whole bass would in my opinion lend itself well to the appeal of this instrument.
I wish I could post a photoshop re-work I did, but I’m not sure I can post images to your blog.
For me, I’ve never been a big fan of single cut designs, but what you have created has a very appealing style to it. It has me re-thinking my opinions of single cuts.

you know jerzy, from judging these pics, I could definitly see a double cout design being born from it too. To see my point, try looking closely at the pictures from the back of the bass.

Hi
i had the opportunity to try the new Jerzy Drozd Single Cut models, both 5 and 6 string
there is so much SOUND from it …and its solid body, yet very light weight !!! this beauty plays so easy, no need to pluck it hard or slapped like my last day on earth
the 33″ scale is DELICIOUS, i was a little suspicious about this because of the low B but curious about the G string! my conclusion is if i close my eyes i thought i was playing a low B on 34 or even a 35 ” scale…i really dont know how this is possible but MR.JERZY DROZD did it again and break all the old rules about bass concepts
and the G string..ouch so powerful and so deep…tasty!
you gotta to try it and you will know what i mean! Congratulations Jerzy on making a new masterpiece
so i leave here a little review ;
-after i get the bass is my lap i was amazed how comfortable it is , there is no fighting to keep the bass right in place, the lower horn is in fact very welcome ! a little playing unplugged and my first question to Jerzy is if the bass is chambered
The 5 string model is a little different from the 6 string, just because the woods choice, not one is better than the other but different sound.(i enjoyed more the 5..but hey im not a fan on a high C )
So all ups from now really that im ordering one for me, just choosing the woods and hope i get it by Christmas
Sorry if it seems a little exited but i am in fact
PS: i dont need to tell you guys how the beautiful details and finish that this basses have.

This instrument if I win it my husband will be very happy,he always mention about he wants a unique bass and had mention Jerzy Drozd many times, but the economy is so bad he can’t afford one,He show me these basses and the no name one and I wishing to win it and give to him as my special gift, I am a Pianist and sometimes we play as duo and also in bands and he realy needs a special bass because his playing is very wonderful, his actual bass is giving many problems like sound, pickups, neck adjustments etc, and as a good bassist as he is he needs something very special like your bass the single cut no name bass!! It is very gorgeous and unique!

Hola Jerzy,
This will be a very interesting bass……compliments!
Great wood-choice and original singlecut design…..but still a JerzyDrozd bass…
I hope this bass will be as light as possible…..below 4kg of weight!
The P’us config. is nice….because of still having that badass Bridge-Singlecoil growl….but an option with one extra Pu in the
neck will make it more suitable soundwise for slap/tap people.
A nice wooden thumbrest would be useful and loking cool too.
Wat I don’t like on this design is: thejack input…..should be on side of the body…….also then you could put the controlknobs a little further away from the bridge and Pu’s…..
I also would like to see the body curves more rounded for a more elegant and comfortable feel……this would make this bass a really sexy….haha.
The only thing wat I found ugly is the lower horn…..I don’t no know how to explain, but…maybe .it’s too far from the body away and should be more tapped to the point?
So this are my thoughts about your new design…..maybe you can do your favour with that…….
But anyway this is an interesting/inspiring design and I hope you will get enough possitive response to finally produce it.
Respect, man!
Greetings from A’dam,
J.J.

I do not know much about bass building and I have only owned one bass. I have only been playing bass for apprx. 3 years. I know that I will want a new bass hopefully not too far in the future and have been window shopping so to speak. I have lots of questions. What do you mean by single cut? How much does your basses weigh as I am a 55 year old woman so I do know want a big heavy monster like many basses are. What kind of picups, and are they active or passive? To tell you the truth, my knowledge about the construction of the bass is very limited so I really don’t know all the questions I should ask. My husband and I have a classic rock band(60′s, 70′s ect.) Is there a certain kind of bass that sounds better for this kind of music? I love playing bass and I have picked it up quickly but still in the learning process so I want a bass that is easy to play and has a good sound and that I can bring the best sound possible to our band. I have a spector now but I am interested in learning more about Jerzy Drozd basses and if it would be a good choice for a not quite intermediate player but starting to find my own style. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your contest and to learn about your instruments.
Sincerly
Vicki
