Ok, anyone who knows me knows I am a Jerzy Drozd FREAK! I absolutely love his basses. Every one I've ever played seemed to melt into my hands and pretty much play itself - they are a perfect fit for me and my playing style. There are several custom builders out there who build great instruments, but I feel lack constistancy. I don't mean this in a bad way...For example: Fodera builds great basses. But, every single one I've played seemed to have a different "feel." Some I've liked, some not so much. I can name several other luthiers in which I've also had this experience. For this reason, I usually don't order a bass without playing it first. I'd hate to spend big money on an instrument, get it, and not like the feel or the sound of it.

This is not the case with Jerzy's instruments! Every single one I've played has felt EXACTLY the same. I think his build consitency is second to none. I would not hesitate to order a custom bass from him because I know exactly what I'll get - a great playing, sounding, and looking bass.

Sorry for the long intro, but that had to be said.

On to the bass. My main player is a Mastery VI. I took delivery of this bass in September of 2007, and haven't stopped playing it since then!

Not only does it look amazing, but it plays and sounds fantastic. The best part is it only weighs 8lbs according to my bathroom scale!

As for the tone, it is very punchy and bright...Very hi fi. The low end is a little more subtle...Sometimes I boost it a little depending on the situation. Other than that, the eq pretty much stays flat. I would also say it is a little bit quieter volume-wise than my other Aguilar-equipped basses.

Jerzy's pickups are dead quiet...The best I've ever heard. The bass is an absolute pleasure to play live and to record with. Everyone that has heard or played it has been amazed.

Another thing that needs to be said is that Jerzy has the best customer service I've ever experienced. On more than one occasion, Jerzy has gone above and beyond what one would expect to make sure his basses are functioning properly and that his customers are happy (sometimes at no small cost to him).

Thanks Jerzy for building my dream bass. You've made a life-long customer and friend!

Here's my baby with the others in the stable. Each one has its own personality. The Fretless is very warm with a hint of acoustic character thanks to the piezo, and has "mwah" for days. The signature has a much rounder, fat tone, but still has that hifi growl that I love.
